Stop encryption
CryptoGuard detects and blocks unauthorised changes to files.
Security
Ransomware encrypts data within minutes. Sophos Intercept X detects the encryption itself – and reverses it.
Ransomware uses known tools and often no dedicated malware. It exploits stolen credentials, unpatched systems or a manipulated process – and then starts encrypting files. Signatures often recognise this too late.
Sophos Intercept X therefore relies on behaviour: CryptoGuard monitors write access and detects the typical pattern of encryption. If files are modified, the protection stops the process and restores the affected files to their previous state.

Behaviour, exploit protection and reputation work together.
Affected files are restored automatically.
Important
An attack can still get through. What matters is that an immutable backup exists and that recovery has been rehearsed.
