More than a firewall
A classic firewall decides based on ports and addresses. UTM goes further: it inspects content, filters websites and email, detects attack patterns and provides encrypted connections for branch offices and home offices.
Sophos UTM (SG) and XG can run as hardware, software or virtual appliance – the feature set remains the same. The web-based console manages all sites centrally.
